New at Waters Kids this fall, Interest-Based Groups will help kids discover and grow in their God-given passions. Kids get to choose a group that excites them—like theater, sports, crafts, baking, Legos, worship, and more—then meet with that same group to learn, create, and build friendships. Each group is hands-on, fun, and designed to help kids use their talents to honor God.
Our Interest-Based Groups run in three trimesters each year—Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each trimester lasts about 8–10 weeks, and kids stay in the same group for the whole trimester so they can build skills, friendships, and confidence. At the start of a new trimester, they can either stick with their group or try something new!
Groups meet Wednesday nights from 6:30–7:45pm.
FALL: September 10 – November 19 (current)
WINTER: January 7 – March 18
SPRING: April 1 – May 20
FAQ:
What are Interest-Based Groups?
Interest-Based Groups give kids the chance to learn, create, and explore in a setting they love—whether that’s sports, theater, crafts, music, or other hands-on activities. Every group is designed to help kids build friendships, grow in skills, and connect their interests to their faith.
How are groups organized?
Groups are divided by activity type, and some have grade-specific requirements. For example, Theater is only for 3rd–5th graders, while Gym Activities are open to all grades.
How long does my child stay in the same group?
Our program runs in three trimesters each year—Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each trimester lasts about 8–10 weeks, and kids stay in their chosen group the entire time. They can choose a new group when a new trimester starts.
How do you choose which group my child is in?
Kids (and parents) get to pick their preferred group at the start of the trimester! Some groups fill up quickly, so sign-ups are first come, first served.
What if my child wants to try something else mid-trimester?
We encourage them to stay in their group for the trimester so they can build consistency, friendships, and skills. They can switch at the start of the next trimester.
Are the activities faith-based?
Yes! While each group focuses on a specific interest or skill, our leaders intentionally connect activities to biblical truths and encourage kids to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Do you offer anything for new families?
Absolutely—our check-in team will welcome you, help with registration, and answer any questions about groups, schedules, or what to expect.
What if my child has special needs or needs extra support?
We want every child to feel safe, included, and loved. Let us know your child’s needs ahead of time, and we’ll do our best to provide the right support.
